BAVIS C. NAY,  who has superintended the schools at Veedersburg for the past two years, died at a hospital in Indianapolis last Sunday morning after a two week’s illness with peritonitis.   His condition became alarming a couple of weeks ago and he was advised to go to the hospital which he did but the grip of death had too much of a hold on him and the efforts of the most skilled physicians were fruitless.

B. C. Nay was born in Henry county, Indiana, in 1877.   He was raised on a farm and received common school education in a small frame building near his home.  He then graduated from Spiceland  academy and in 1901 entered Earlham college.  He received the degree of Bachelor of Arts at University of Indiana and had almost completed his Master’s degree.   He was a member of the Christian church,    Phi Beta Kappa fraternity and the Odd Fellows’ lodge.

A widow and three children survive.  The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock, Rev. Lee Tinsley, assisted by Rev. O. W. McGaughey, officiating.  The body was taken to Springport Tuesday morning where services were held Wednesday after in the Christian Church.  Burial was made in the Mt. Summitt cemetery. - S
